Farewell… for Now!

3rd July 2020

Today marks the end of a very successful year… and a rather unusual term. Every member of our community has faced new challenges since ‘lockdown’ began back in March, but each new obstacle has provided an opportunity to learn and grow as a team. Our pupils have found new ways to connect with one another;…

A Prize Giving with a Difference

3rd July 2020

This morning we enjoyed a very special outdoor Prize Giving ceremony with our year 6 pupils. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on a hugely successful year, despite the many changes to the girls’ school routines during these unprecedented times. Blessed with beautiful blue skies, we were able to enjoy Prize Giving ‘al fresco’…

Land Ahoy!

2nd July 2020

We had lots of fun with our year 3 girls today, who all dressed up in their very best pirate attire! As part of their geography curriculum, our year 3 crew-mates have been studying the area of St Lucia, famous for the notorious pirates that sailed in the Caribbean. Can you spot the parrot?

Year 6 Retreat Day

1st July 2020

Today our year 6s enjoyed their traditional ‘retreat’. This is a very special day, during which pupils are encouraged to reflect on their personal journeys at Holy Cross – the lessons learned and friendships forged – as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives. It has been an incredible seven years and we…

Nothing holds Holy Cross Prep down… not even lockdown! Over the past few months we have been busy planning a very special project: a brand new outdoor play area for our reception classes. Next stop, Dragon’s Den!

Designing a Difference

6th March 2020

Fashion shows don’t come more sustainable than this – our year 6 pupils showed us just how easy it is to recycle our old clothes by giving them a new lease of life (instead of a trip to the tip!). With a little creativity, we can be kind to the world and our wardrobes at…

Studying the Local Area

11th February 2020

As part of their geography curriculum, our year 5 pupils created an engaging online survey on their iPads, before setting out to investigate land use on New Malden’s busy high street.  As well as surveying local shoppers, the girls used trundle wheels to measure shop frontage. They also looked out for any Korean influences, having…

Keep Dancing!

11th February 2020

Every year our wonderful parents’ association, the Friends of Holy Cross, organise a fantastic disco for our girls to enjoy, and this year was no exception! Each disco has its own theme, from ‘tropical’ to ‘fluffy’… but this year our girls channeled their inner ballroom dancers for an evening of Strictly Come Dancing! The dancefloor…
