Sunday Times Prep School of the Year 2013-14

Year 6 Production...

Our Year 6 girls have been acting, singing and dancing their socks off this week as their 8 day intensive rehearsal period for their end of year show began; bring on the ‘Dragon Days’! This rehearsal time is largely focused on the production’s content naturally, and bringing it all together for the audience next Thursday and Friday evenings, but the girls learn an incredible amount about teamwork, collaboration and perseverance along with a number of transferrable skills at the same time. This end of year production becomes almost a, ‘rite of passage’ for our Year 6 girls as they begin to say goodbye to Holy Cross and prepare to leave us for their senior schools. It has been an enjoyable, busy and fast paced week and very different from their usual timetable with dance routines being worked out, lines practised, acting and movement arranged, costumes fitted and props, staging, set design and lighting all worked out; we are all looking forward to seeing the end result next week! The remainder of the school will not be viewing the dress rehearsal, but tickets are available to watch either the Thursday and Friday performances for all families through Agora. The modern-day tale with echoes of traditional folk lore delivers a strong message and will be enjoyed by all ages. It has been an immense team effort between our girls and staff and one which an audience should appreciate – we hope to see you there!
