Sunday Times Prep School of the Year 2013-14

Taking a Good Look!

The Year 3’s happily boarded the coach to travel the short distance to The Lightbox Gallery, Woking to enrich their Art curriculum. They experienced looking round the gallery at a range of work which included painted abstract canvases, pen and wash delicate drawings, as well as over life-size, realistic representations of the human form. They also had the chance to ‘get up close and personal’ with a number of dramatic pieces of sculpture which they really engaged with well. The girls also participated in a clay head making workshop and learnt lots of new 3D modelling skills. Our girls are always a pleasure to take on a trip and their natural inquisitiveness, combined with their youthful innocence and intelligence, makes for a valuable learning experience outside of the classroom. A big 'Thank You' to all staff and parents who accompanied us.

The gallery is a really fabulous local venue of great importance with an impressive permanent collection as well as an exciting and varied changing programme of exhibitions. Landscape studies by Turner are currently showing and it is Picasso up nest. Do see the link for more information and consider a potential visit one weekend or in the holidays. They run some super family sessions in the gallery as well as craft and making workshops without the hustle and bustle of the main London attractions. http://www.thelightbox.org.uk/
