Due to retirement of the current post holder, we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and inspirational music teacher to join our friendly and supportive team as the director of music.

Holy Cross Preparatory School is an outstanding Catholic prep school with a caring and inclusive ethos. We are located just off Kingston Hill in a beautiful eight-acre site and offer first rate facilities including a performing arts and sports hall, tennis and netball courts, a sports pavilion and all weather pitches.

Music is an integral part of the school’s makeup and a large majority of pupils are voluntarily involved in some aspect of the extracurricular music programme as well as the compulsory classroom learning. All pupils are encouraged to fulfil their musical potential. The school has a choir, an orchestra, a number of ensembles, and prepares for concerts, performances, and productions throughout the year. A dedicated and experienced music teacher will be needed to continue the excellent provision.

The ideal candidate will be someone who has a passion for working with young people and will already have experience teaching primary aged children of varying abilities. Candidates must have QTS and should hold a good degree in a relevant field of study and be an outstanding practitioner who is eager to take on school-wide responsibility and add value to the school community.  It is essential that that you are a proficient pianist (minimum grade 5). The director of music should have excellent interpersonal skills as they will manage and coordinate the peripatetic music teachers and will work closely with the drama team.
