The Rosary

16th October 19

On Wednesday, Y5P led a special service that celebrated Mary, Our Mother, and the mysteries of the Rosary, which we especially remember during the month of October. The girls explained the meaning of the Rosary and how to use it. They also acted out a scene from the Bible, during which Mary was visited by the Angel Gabriel and said ‘Yes’ to God. Y5P reminded us to thank God for Mary and pray to her so that she will help us to say ‘Yes’ to God.

This week marks the 175th anniversary of the formation of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross (on 16th October, 1844 in Menzingen, Switzerland) by Mother Bernarda Heimgartner, Sister Feliciana Kramer and Sister Cornelia Mäde. On Wednesday, Sister Margaret, Sister Ursula and eight other Holy Cross Sisters went on a special pilgrimage to Canterbury, where they visited the first Franciscan church and shared a special Mass together to mark this momentous occasion. May God continue to bless and guide all the Holy Cross sisters around the world as they carry out their special mission.

This week, we also celebrated the feast day of one of our special house saints, St Teresa of Avila (15th October). We can learn much from this determined, independent woman who followed God’s way and who was later declared a Doctor of the Church – ‘To have courage for whatever comes in life – everything lies in that.’
