Y3 Assembly: Teaching Resilience through British Values

17th January 19

This morning’s wonderful assembly, hosted by Y3, focussed on the importance of demonstrating resilience in the face of adversity, promoting British values such as perseverance and a strong work ethic, as well as a sense of humour!

No one is born with the ability to be resilient – it is a skill we learn over time. Using the beautiful story of Savannah the swallow, who overcame many challenges during her long migration to Scotland, Y3 explained to the rest of the school how important it is to ‘bounce back’, even when we are feeling angry or sad. By using resilience in a positive way, we will be able to face the challenges that lie ahead.

Top tips for building resilience:

·         be thankful for everything you have

·         work hard

·         ask for help when you need it

·         keep trying and persevere

·         believe in yourself

·         stay calm

·         laugh!
