We shared our first whole school Mass together and acknowledged the Feast of the Holy Cross which is on Friday, 14th.September. This feast day of course has special significance for our community as we are a school set up by the teaching sisters of the Holy Cross order founded in Switzerland.
Father Michael led our worship and was accompanied by a number of girls of all ages, throughout the school, who read and prayed together. It was lovely to see our youngest classes take part as they joined in the experience too and they sat and behaved beautifully.
Sr.Ursula spoke to us about how the cross is a powerful symbol – not least because it acts as a bridge between Heaven and earth and is where Jesus died for us and shows us his enduring love.
Our school Mass is not just for the practising Catholic families amongst us, but a chance for us all to come together and reflect and sing, regardless of our beliefs; Father Michael is happy to give a blessing at Communion if people prefer to receive that.
All girls and staff were treated to a home-baked cookie, or similar, alongside their fruit snack provision at break time to celebrate the occasion. Happy Feast Day to all our world-wide Holy Cross family!
