Sunday Times Prep School of the Year 2013-14

Lenten Walk

Spring term finished on a chilly but partly sunny day that was brightened up with the multitude of green shoots and daffodils in the grounds. We were thankful the weather stayed dry as we walked the traditional Stations, or Way of the Cross, to learn about Jesus' final journey. The Infant and Junior girls were joined by many parents and were hardly recognisable as they all had donned head scarves as a sign of respect and to make us feel more 'in role' as the people of Jerusalem. It was prayerful, solemn, reflective and deeply moving as the girls from Y6P took on the various roles and acted out what happened on the road to Calvary and Jesus' eventual crucifixion. The true message of Easter, that Jesus died for us as a symbol of His unending love, was communicated clearly and we all felt spiritually uplifted. There cannot be many schools that finish the term on this note in place of an Easter bonnet parade, but then that is what makes Holy Cross so very Holy Cross... Wishing you all a joyful and blessed Easter break.
