Sunday Times Prep School of the Year 2013-14

How many for lunch?

The school enjoyed a wonderful lunch yesterday with the traditional turkey accompanied by all the trimmings including stuffing, cranberry sauce, 'pigs-in'blankets' and even a Yorkshire pud! The girls and staff ate really well and were almost ready for a snooze in the afternoon, but there was no time for that as the Junior girls pitted their wits against each other in the House Quiz and the Infant girls got all creative decorating cookies. The girls squealed in delight as they pulled crackers and laughed heartily at all the bad jokes.

The entire school staff helped out and were in the Hall showcasing their best Christmas hats, jumpers, flashing reindeer antlers and tinsel jewellery. The kitchen team led by Mrs Bouffet and Mr Orkney all worked incredibly hard to make a success of serving nearly 300 people Christmas lunch at roughly the same time; they were peeling 35 kilos of potatoes and 5 kilos of brussell sprouts since the early hours. Mini mince-pies, chocolate cup cakes, Christmas pudding and custard and chocolate mints ensured we all went back to class, or out to play, with a very full and content feeling. A huge thank you to all involved for a really memorable lunch. We are all very lucky to have shared a really festive and fun lunch.
