Sunday Times Prep School of the Year 2013-14

Not so 'Horrible Histories'

The coaches rolled out of school and just down Kingston Hill and over Kingston Bridge to take our Year 4 girls to Hampton Court the other day. Their topic in History of 'The Tudors' was about to come alive before their very eyes...Mrs Stiff one of the teachers who accompanied the trip recounts what happened,

"On Wednesday 8th May the Year 4 girls set out for Hampton Court Palace and took on the challenge of becoming History Detectives. Armed with some clues and masses of enthusiasm, their mission was to find out more about Henry VIII, his wives and Hampton Court itself. In pursuit of knowledge and a better understanding of the Tudors, they visited the kitchens and courtyards, elaborate halls and The Chapel Royal.

They were helped in their quest by being able to dress up in Tudor costume and take on the roles of a variety of Tudor palace workers including the royal food taster and jesters. One lucky detective even got to imagine what it would be like to be King Henry VIII himself!

Was their mission successful? Ask a Year 4 detective when you see them around school and discover how much they now know about the Tudor royals."
