Sunday Times Prep School of the Year 2013-14

Year 3 World Travellers

This term Y3 and Y3P have had the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of locations with the help of parents from the two classes. As part of our geography topic, Passport to the World, we have ‘visited’ two countries each week and learned facts about those places from people who have first hand knowledge of living there.

The presentations have been as varied as the locations. We saw photographs of flora and fauna, artefacts and PowerPoint presentations, learned about life for children who live there, had opportunities to taste local delicacies and even to see how the locals like to dance!

The girls have been excited by, and interested in learning from our ‘resident experts’ and all the adults involved have been impressed by the standard of questioning from children of seven and eight years of age.

The countries we have visited so far are:- The Netherlands, Austria, Germany, Italy, France, Serbia, The USA, Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela and South Africa. After each visit the girls have recorded the countries visited in their specially designed Holy Cross Passports. Next term we look forward to hearing about some more locations.

Mrs Hadgianni, Mrs Barton, Mrs Gripton  and the girls in Y3 and 3P would like to thank the parents who have given their time so generously to share their expertise and experiences with us this year. We have all learned so much and had had a great deal of fun in the process.
