Sunday Times Prep School of the Year 2013-14

Eco Stars

In recognition of the increasing importance of the wider environmental agenda, the Climate Change and Sustainable Travel Group at the Local Authority have launched a Junior Eco S.T.A.R.S. (Sustainable Travel and Road Safety) scheme.

The Junior Eco-S.T.A.R.S. will disseminate information on sustainable schools and eco-footprinting. Last week our Year 6 Junior Eco-S.T.A.R.S., Ava Mason Declercq, Isabella Mason, Alisha Jani and Lydia Randall were invited to a seminar at the Council Chamber in the Guildhall, Kingston to introduce them to their new role. The girls gave a Road Safety PowerPoint presentation and participated in a number of workshops focusing on climate change and sustainable travel.

Throughout the year the Eco Stars will be responsible for organising assemblies and competitions to help promote the girls’ understanding of how we can help to reduce the effects of climate change and care for our environment.

Congratulations to the girls for their excellent presentation skills and we are sure that they will be effective ambassadors for the school throughout the year. Well done!
