Sunday Times Prep School of the Year 2013-14

Oooo La La!

Ooooo la la! A superbe morning in school with our eldest and youngest pupils enjoying a shared French breakfast and a chance to practice their language skills, speaking and listening, to each other.

The Reception girls sang a song for their ‘Big Girls’ after enjoying all the tasty French cuisine on offer including croissant, pain au chocolat, jus d’orange and chocloat chaud! There was time for a treasure hunt together finding clues amongst French vocabulary before watching the Year 6 presentations. Girls from Y6P had collaborated to write and perform little scripts whilst girls in Y6 performed their version of ‘Le Miniscule Chenille Verte’, more popularly known as ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ which gave great repetition to songs and words as our hungry caterpillar munched her way through all manner of items. It was wonderful to see all the girls confidently speaking and performing in another language and certainly highlighted Madame Humberston’s approach to teaching French at Holy Cross; fun and opportunity for all. Well done to all those involved.
