U10 Hockey News

Our U10 hockey girls played in a tense, yet frustrating tournament as Ms.Williams reveals.

"The morning of the tournament dawned and the heavens opened up, but hockey is no 'fair-weather only' sport and come rain, hail or shine the matches were on and the U10 girls were ready for a session of fast paced hockey at the St Georges Hockey Tournament. After a warm up and team talk the girls were ready for their first match against the Royal Russell school. Holy Cross dominated and had possession of the ball for about 80% of the match and after 3 attempts at goal, one finally made it over the line sealing the match 1-0. Over the course of the tournament the girls had a further 5 matches each frustratingly ending in a scoreless draw. Each game we gained many opportunities to score, with plenty of short corners, and assists, and a high percentage of possession of the ball, however we just couldn’t score! At the presentation we waited in anticipation to see where we came, and were delighted to hear it was 3rd place. The winning school was St George’s who won all their games except against Holy Cross which was a very competitive game finishing in a 0-0 score. Well done girls for a nail biting tournament".
