The Commencement of Lent 2020

28th February 20

This week marks the start of Lent and on Tuesday, several of our girls in years 4-6 received the Sacrament of Reconciliation from Father Michael, embracing the opportunity to say sorry to God and be forgiven for any wrong doings in preparation for Lent.

On Wednesday, our whole school community came together to celebrate our Ash Wednesday Mass, led by Father Michael and Y4P. As we received the blessed ashes, the girls reminded us that we are made by God, as is the earth and its dust for life. These ashes were the palms of the last Palm Sunday, so they are also ashes of hope. We receive them to remind us that we are part of the creation of God. In class, the girls have been busy making Lenten promises to focus on throughout the period of lent, making thoughtful and reflective choices as to how they will try to be a better person and a kinder friend to others.
