It is indeed the merry month of May and our Reception girls have been busy learning to skip backwards and forwards as well as count and move to a beat as they have been learning all about the tradition of the English maypole and maypole dancing. They made invitations for their parents, siblings and grandparents asking them to participate in their creative arts afternoon, the highlight of which was dancing around the maypole. The Reception girls showed them how it was done first of all with a super display revealing coordination and timing and then the adults took a spin around the maypole themselves and realised it is not as easy as it first appears! The girls also entertained their audience with songs and poems, before serving their guests cakes they had baked themselves and offering drinks and other tasty treats from the school chef. A fabulous afternoon which kept dry and bright. Well done everyone involved in the preparation.
