World Book Day
Everyone Dropped Everything And Read today to mark World Book Day 2010. The whole school assembled and read quietly for 10 minutes. The hall was decorated with balloons and bunting created from individually designed flags depicting the girls' favourite books. These have now been used to decorate the school library.
We were also able to watch special videos of authors reading extracts from their books as part of a 'Read to a Million Kids' project organised by Accelerated Reader. Year 6 girls used our new video cameras to record teachers talking about their favourite book and these will be uploaded onto the newly created pupils' area of our website.
Details of the winning book flags are on the pupils' website - it was very difficult to select the best, as there were some amazing designs. Well done girls and a big 'thank you' to Mrs Wood, our new librarian for organising the day!
