Certificates and applause!
Every week, before the main part of the Assembly, any girl in school is encouraged to stand up and share anything of particular note or interest - especially if they have been rewarded in some way for their efforts! It is always delightful to hear big, proud voices telling of many exciting sports and events that have been participated in from chess championships to tennis tournaments, from down-hill skiing races to swimming lengths, readathons and charity work - all achievements are celebrated and acknowledged. Jenny in Y4P informed us that she did a sponsored bike ride recently and raised £1,000 for the British Heart Foundation which received a very big clap from everyone! Well done Jenny!
The various Year 5 and Year 6 girls who went on the PGL residential activity trip during the Easter holidays were each awarded a certificate for overcoming the many challenges that they faced during their week away including archery, the zip-wire, abseiling, rock climbing and raft building! They were all noted to have been very brave and courageous facing these activities, which had initially brought on feelings of anxiety and trepidation amongst the girls who were unsure if they would be able to complete and do some of the challenges. They also had to cope with the very inclement weather yet the challenges went ahead as planned, with little shelter and respite for the girls. They all, however, emerged smiling and elated the other side of the challenge. A very well done girls from all the staff - we are proud of your perseverance and strength.
Then the Hall was filled with a very long line of successful musicians who received their certificates for various graded exams. The girls had done extremely well passing with a Merit or Distinction on many instruments including saxophone, clarinet, violin, piano and the voice. A full list of these results will be published soon under the 'Music News' section of the website - do take a look! Mrs Petersons and her team of Peri Teachers work so hard preparing these girls and guiding their musical development - it is wonderful to witness so much talent in our midst! Congratulations to all girls.
