On Thursday, March 2nd, three of our Year 5 girls, accompanied by Mr Mahy, went to Epsom College for a Public Speaking competition. This is quite a new venture for our school to participate in and we went along with relative ambition, although unsurprisingly, Holy Cross managed to rise to the occasion and surpass and succeed expectations.
The newly formed team called ‘The Chatterboxes’, had spent the previous week writing and rehearsing their speech which was on the given topic of, “If I had one wish - the ability to control time”. All three girls spoke confidently and eloquently raising some interesting points. We were delighted when Jemima was presented with the prize for, ‘Very Best Speaker of the Evening’. A fabulous achievement girls, well done! Here is to many more future public speaking contests and the chance to shine vocally and politically.
