Year 6 Thespians
On Monday 5th July all Year 6 girls went to perform a play called "Following Pharoah", as part of a national drama festival.
The day began with a workshop in the annexe of the theatre followed by a technical rehearsal including sound and lighting. It was hard work for the girls as the stage was on a slope, (the play that is being staged at the moment is about a ship !) and they were sliding around a bit- but the true troopers that they are, they took it in their stride and coped.
Lunch was eaten in the courtyard area with an extra lolly to cool them all down (thanks to Mrs. Jackson for running up Wimbledon High Street), and then they went into the theatre for the afternoon performance.
The first school to perform was Merton Park with a play called "Dark Age" about us all wasting the earth's resources and the consequences of this.
Our girls then performed with great aplomb and verve.
It was a joy to see the huge progress that the girls have made with this play and they should all be very pleased with the end result which looked very professional.
The girls repeated their performance at school the following day so that the whole school could enjoy the fruits of their labour!
