Mrs Withers has had a busy week on the hockey astro-turf pitches this week as she reports below.

 U9 hockey

First taste of a tournament for the U9s!

“Some of our Year 4 girls played in their first U9 hockey tournament and showed excellent skills.  They got better as the afternoon went on and finished in a credible 4th place.  Well done girls”.

A busy week for the U11A girls in both netball and hockey fixtures re-arranged following the weather last week.

“On Monday they were in Sussex for the IAPS regional netball.  They won their section and after playoffs unluckily finished 7th out of 25 schools, narrowly missing out on the Nationals by one place.  However, the girls showed true resilience the next day when they took to the hockey pitch this time for the ‘In 2 Hockey’ county qualifications and won their section unbeaten in 5 matches.

This put them through to the South of England Regional finals with the top 14 teams in the region.  These finals were played on Thursday; here the girls played 6 matches winning 4, drawing one and losing one, which gave them a well-deserved place in the semi-finals.  The girls lost their semi 1-2, but continued to work together and came out 1-0 winners in the 3rd/4th play offs.  Well done girls.

 U11 hockey

Third place U11 hockey players.

Lastly this week, we had six ‘B’ team hockey players and 2 ‘A’ team players take part in the ‘Small Schools hockey tournament on Wednesday with 5 other teams competing. They showed great skill and took 1st place ahead of schools competing with their full A teams; fabulous effort and great team work girls, well done!”
