Sunday Times Prep School of the Year 2013-14

Whole School Art Exhibition.

Many thanks to all of you who came along to view our whole school Art Exhibition in the Hall, there was a real ‘buzz’ down there and the space transformed into a riot of colour and visual delight. If your daughter was with us in the summer term she would have had a piece of art work mounted framed and hung there, and standards were pleasingly high. Even our youngest Reception classes who have only been with us a few weeks, had worked hard to create an adorable hand-print painted, collaged hedgehog that stole many admiring glances. The work on show was very varied from self-portraits collaged in paper, to delicate drawings of seed pods and grasses, as well as dotty Aborigine inspired animal paintings and closely observed studies of a well-loved teddy; we do indeed have much creative talent amongst us and the exhibition gave the girls the opportunity to showcase this. All the classes managed to visit during the day with their teachers and everyone enjoyed seeing each other’s work higher and lower in the school.

We held an ‘Alumni’ event in the evening alongside the exhibition, at which our most recent Year 6 leavers came back to socialise and view their artwork; they enjoyed this occasion immensely to have a jolly good catch-up about their new schools and it was lovely to see so many of them – especially sporting new uniforms with pride!

If you still wish to purchase your daughter’s original, framed art work simply send in £10 cash or cheque (made payable to Holy Cross Prep) for the attention of Mrs Earl and the masterpiece will wing its way home to you. Purchases from yesterday’s exhibition will be distributed to girls today unless a copy / notecards/ bag was also ordered – these will be available just before half term. Only the framed, original art work can be purchased after the exhibition.

Thank you once again for your support, both financially and as an appreciative gallery audience. Enjoy the art work at home; best get the ‘picture-hanging kit’ out at the weekend, mums and dads!
