Marvellous Music in School

Mrs Petersons’ our Musical Director, reports back on the many concerts that have taken place over the last week.

On Monday 26th June Ms Deam’s singing pupils entranced us with their beautiful singing; solos, duets and groups sang a variety of songs culminating with “Joy in my Heart”.  Indeed, the audience did leave with joy in their hearts after such wonderful singing.

Tuesday 27th June bought the parents of Miss Willis’ pupils to the Music room to hear all the girls play a solo and then a finale piece where they all played together.  Well done girls - a lovely afternoon of gentle flute music.

Thursday 29th June began with a concert by Mr Slater’s clarinet and saxophone pupils where we heard a variety of styles of music – each piece accompanied by Mr Slater in his own inimitable style, in more ways than one! Super playing girls and a lovely rich tone was heard when you played.

Following Junior Sports Day morning, another concert was held in the afternoon for Mr Cattell’s 24 piano pupils, with a mixture of Infant and Junior pupils who all played very fluently and competently.  Well done girls  – playing on the grand piano in the hall is very daunting and you played very well.

Friday 30th June was rounded off by all of Mrs Berrow’s violin pupils playing in a massed string orchestra which was interspersed with solos and duets.  The rich sound filled the Hall and gave the audience a marvellous afternoon of music played to an extremely high standard and, as one of the audience remarked, “unbelievable to think this quality of music is free!”.  You should all be very proud of yourselves in achieving such a good standard of playing girls!

The concerts for parents conclude with Mr Stott’s pupils on Tuesday 4th July at 9.15.
