PE Success on the Field and Court

Mrs Withers and Mrs Kapadia have been extremely busy this last week with a whole array of fixtures and tournaments; they report back on two of these below.

"The 4A and 4B hockey teams took part in the Small Schools hockey tournament this week.  The girls showed great teamwork and versatility in positional play.  The 4As scored a fantastic 29 goals and conceded only 1, bringing home the gold medal.  The Bs finished in fourth place which again was an excellent result as they played against fellow school 'A' teams.  Well done to all the girls.

The U11 As travelled to Sussex to play in the IAPS regional netball tournament with 37 other schools.  In the pool section they played 8 matches against schools they have never competed against before.  With fantastic team work, spacing and timing the girls won 7 of them and only lost one, by one goal. On winning the last match of the pool section, the girls realised they had won their section which automatically qualified them for the National finals. The top four schools then played each other for the regional title:  Holy Cross beat the Study and Barrow Hills and it came down to the last match against Wimbledon High.  In a close match the score finished as a draw.  The regional title was decided on goal difference and we came out in second place.  The girls were delighted and the school very proud of their achievement.  Good luck at the Nationals on the 10th March."
