U11 Hockey Success

Our U11 hockey girls took part in the London Cup Competition on Friday and Mrs Withers swapped her netballing skills for her ‘hockey rules’ handbook and gives us the tournament report below.

“The hockey team assembled ready for this cup competition only 24 hours after a number of the same girls had played in the IAPS netball tournament, so after a slow start with some stiff legs, the girls started to recover and they soon found their old winning ways.  In the pool section they scored 12 goals and conceded only 1 which saw them top their section and make it through to the semis.  Here they faced Surbiton and in a close match the girls came out victorious with a hard-fought 1 - 0 victory.  In the finals they faced Thomas’s Clapham; this match was of a very high standard with great skill shown and terrific speed around the pitch.  At full time the score was 1 - 1 and the competition went to penalties.  We sadly lost 5 - 6 on sudden death penalties, but we are delighted to have qualified for the regional finals. Excellent effort girls, you produce such a strong team effort, well done…onwards and upwards!”
