Our 'Repton Ramblers and Players'.

We all know how busy and involved our girls are, so the mere fact that the U11 hockey squad had travelled to Derby for the finals of an IAPS tournament did not stop them wanting to do their bit, like the rest of us, for the 'Children in Need. So, after breakfast and before setting off for the tournament, they found themselves wearing yellow sweatshirt tops and spotty socks, with Mrs Withers, marching around the hotel grounds in spirit with the rest of us rambling around the Coombe Estate! Well done girls, we admire your dedication to the cause. Careful to conserve some energy for the important fixture that lay ahead of them the rest of the day, Mrs Withers gives us her report below.

"On Thursday afternoon the U11 hockey team travelled up to Repton to take their place in the national IAPS finals with 23 other schools.  After breakfast on Friday we went for our 'Children in Need' ramble round the hotel grounds, emulating what we knew was going on back in school, and then began to focus our thoughts to the games ahead and set off for the tournament.  We played in a round robin format to begin with and managed to win 1, draw 3 and lose 1 game.  We then went on to play three further matches – we won our first, lost our second on penalty shuffles and won our last match again on penalty shuffles.  Overall we finished 11th in the country and only conceded two goals during our matches.  A great result finishing 11th nationally on the 11th day of the 11th month! Well played everyone; a super effort when you consider that Holy Cross does not even boast a formal hockey pitch upon which to practise".
