Sunday Times Prep School of the Year 2013-14

Music Maestros!

The unsuspecting shopping public of Kingston had their spirits raised and hearts filled with glad tidings when our girls sang for them outside the parish church. Mrs Petersons travelled with the choir that had sung in Teddington at the weekend, plus flute, horn, trombone and euphonium players. They delivered a selection of festive songs and traditional Christmas carols which enthralled everyone. Their sweet voices projected loud and clear despite passing buses and road sweepers; well done girls!

Our musical talents at Holy Cross seem to know no boundary as Mrs Petersons has received note after note of success at various auditions and exams. The most recent cohort have achieved 2 violin places in the National Children's Orchestra - the NCO - plus participation in the regional South Easterly NCO. Similarly, one of our French Horn players has been given the chance to play in the London (Junior) Regional Orchestra as an associate member and is on the reserve list for the NCO. There is also a Holy Cross pupil now playing in the South Easterly Regional Orchestra in it's 2016 season; she is also playing the French Horn under the expert guidance of Mr Stott. Lastly, a former pupil of Holy Cross who now attends a local senior school has been given the opportunity to play in the London Schools Symphony Orchestra. All these musicians have achieved tremendous success already at their young age and demonstrate how commitment, dedication, hard work and a lot of practise can reap great reward! Fabulous effort girls the school is very proud of you all.
